Description
The name of this bird is derived from the Spanish word ‘flamengo’, or flame-coloured. There are six flamingo species which, between them are native to most of the continents, barring the antipodes. Their distinctive colouring comes from the carotenoids in their diet of crustaceans and algae. This colourful project uses of a wide range of interesting techniques and stitches as under:
- 25 embroidery stitches/stitch variations
- 3 bead embroidery stitches
- 2 needle lace patterns
- 2 needle weaving patterns
Finished size is 305 x 275 mm

The original of this project was worked through batting. If you choose to do the same thing, you will require 450 x 450 mm polyester batting.
