Description
The mallard is a duck that is found throughout the world either because it is indigenous or because it has been introduced. It is a duck ripe for embroidery because of its unique and beautiful colouring. This colourful project uses of a wide range of interesting techniques and stitches as under:
- 26 embroidery stitches/stitch variations
- 3 bead embroidery stitches
- 1 needle lace pattern
- 9 needle weaving patterns

Finished size is 290 x 290 mm, depending on whether or not you choose to add the background ripples in order to quilt the design.
All of the stitches and techniques are to be found in the Crewel Birds book. There are also detail instructions, often with the video clips, in the Resources area in the workroom.

The original of this project was worked through batting. If you choose to do the same thing, you will require 450 x 450 mm polyester batting.
