Description
A variation of basic trellis couching, worked with large cross stitches over the intersections. Shaded trellis is a good substitute for long and short stitch shading. On the one hand, if you are not comfortable working long and short stitch shading, it works well. On the other hand, even if your long and short stitch skills are up to scratch, it provides rather a nice, shaded texture and is very easy to do.
Both variations are demonstrated in two video clips on the tuition page, where the techniques are worked with perle # 5 and #12 threads on templates which are provided in the downloadable and printable PDF document.
The basic technique is demonstrated in a 8½ minute video tuition clip whilst the shaded version appears in a +15 ¼ minutes clip. Both are filmed in high resolution and are accompanied with voice over instructions to guide you through the learning process.
