Needle Weaving Pattern no. 2 is used in our range of embroidery designs, most notably in Norman the Tortoise which features in the Crewel Creatures book.
Work through this 20-minute video clip on a 50 x 30 mm oval shape with perle no. 5 thread. Then, when you are satisfied that you are beginning to understand the concept, particularly concentrating on the idea of keeping your pattern intact as you start each row, you work more shapes using finer and finer thread – first perle #8, then perle #12 and even Dentelles #80 – and you should get to the point where understand the concept of using loom weaving patterns for needle weaving in your embroidery.
Once you have worked through the pattern using the diagram and instructions, in tandem with the video clip on the tuition page, you should be in a position to use this stitch in your embroidery projects.
