Needle Weaving: Checks & Stripes no. 1 is used throughout our range of embroidery designs. The most useful thing about this guide, however, is that if you have never done used loom weaving patterns to work needle weaving in your embroidery, it is a good basic stitch to use if you want to try this fascinating technique.
Work through this video clip using first, a 30 mm diameter circle with perle no. 5 thread. Then, when you are satisfied that you are beginning to understand the concept, particularly concentrating on the idea of keeping your pattern intact as you start each row, you work more circles using finer and finer thread – first perle #8, then perle #12 and even Dentelles #80.
Once you have worked through the patterm using the diagram and instructions, in tandem with the video clip on the tuition page, you should be in a position to use this stitch in your embroidery projects, or use it as a springboard towards using a variety of needle weaving patterns in your embroidery.
